Hello Potty

This past weekend, I was in LA attending a friend’s wedding.  I returned home late Monday night.  Upon arriving home, I initially noticed nothing was out of place in my townhouse until I went to use the bathroom and flushed the toilet.  That’s when I noticed the bathroom handle was different from the way I left it – someone replaced the handle to flush the toilet.  Why was it replaced?

I didn’t inquiry for answers because it was late and the toilet flushed.  At that point, I was more concerned about getting sleep and waking up for work the next morning.

The next day, I asked my roommate what happened the toilet handle, he said it broke and he took it upon himself to fix it.

I’m not sure why my roommate went out and fixed the broken handle.  But I’m going to venture to guess that he went and fixed it because it was such an inexpensive part and it was also a relatively quick fix.

Although, the handle that broke was a cheap plastic one, my roommate didn’t replace it with another cheap plastic one.  Instead, he replaced it with a better quality decorative metal.  I asked how much the handle cost so that I can reimburse him. He told me not to worry about reimbursing him.  I’m guessing, he probably spent closer to $10 versus $5 bucks for a cheap plastic one.

I was really quite impressed on how my roommate took the initiative to take care of this little maintenance issue while I was away.

The thought that one of my roommates was considerate enough to take his own time and his resources to fix a broken toilet bowl handle made me think that it is possible for me to be on travel for an extended period of time.  Alternatively, my roommates could of left the broken toilet bowl handle for me to fix when I returned.  I’m not going to make a habit on relying on my roommates for maintenance issues while I’m away.  It’s just a nice added convenience that I didn’t have to fix the toilet handle.

This just goes to show that there are responsible roommates out there who care about your personal belongings.

I know I’ve been slow with the updates.  I’ve been very busy with work and other activities.  I’m aware the “Previous Entries” link is not working.  It’s on my to do list.
